This animated special will see the return of Disney Villains’ kids for Mal’s (Maleficent’s daughter) and King Ben’s wedding occasion. Earlier this year, Disney gave a sneak peek of what was about to take place next in a teaser. “A million moments led to this, where the bride and groom will share a kiss,” said Mal in the teaser.

The love between the two came to a climax at the end of 2019’s Descendants 3 when they became engaged. Mal then declared that she wants to be the queen of the United States of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost to bridge the two worlds. Finally, the big day is here!

The new trailer starts with Mal saying she has been waiting for this day her whole life. Then Ben says, “I can’t believe we are finally getting married.” While asking for the bride’s mother at the photo moment, she (Maleficent) springs up from behind. It’s such a relief for fans as Maleficent was lastly cast on Descendants 2.

It’s not certain who the villain of the Descendants: Royal Wedding is. Previously, Disney painted Hades and Celia as the opponents in Descendants 3, while the actual antagonist was Audrey. So, maybe we will have to wait till the release.

The upcoming movie has either modified or changed some character’s outfits while others will be in the same costumes, making it even better. In addition, the animation style that Disney employs in this film is on another level as it’s nostalgic.

The cast will include Dove Cameron as Mal, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Mitchell Hope as Ben, Brenna D’Amico as Jane, Sarah Jeffery as Audrey, and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother.

We also have China Anne McClain as Uma, Jedidiah Goodacre as Chad Charming, Anna Cathcart as Dizzy Tremaine, Dan Payne as Beast, Bobby Moynihan as Dude the Dog, Cheyenne Jackson as Hades, TBA as Pain, TBA as Panic.

The passing away of Cameron Boyce, who played Carlos in the previous Descendants movies, touched many fans and the cast. Disney announced it would honor him and acknowledge the absence of the role he played in the telecast.

Descendants: The Royal Wedding, by Sara Parriott, Josann McGibbon, and Ricky Roxburgh, is centered on the Descendants movies by Parriott and McGibbon (Runaway Bride and The Starter Wife). It is directed by Salvador Simo (Upcoming Dragonkeeper) and produced by Final Frontier Entertainment.

While it’s common for stories to end after a wedding, Disney’s Creative Chief Officer, Gary, made it clear this film won’t go down that road. Rather it will be “a new chapter of compelling Descendants stories and characters yet to come.” according to Marsh.

The series has earned much love and grown to be one of the top Disney Channel franchises. The animated special will air on August 13, 2021, on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW. So the long wait is almost over!
