Bewitched and The Partridge Family Reboot

Sony Pictures Television is developing animated reboots of the classic sitcoms Bewitched and The Partridge Family.

What is the premise of the animated version of Bewitched

The animated version of Bewitched will focus on Tabitha Stevens, the 13-year-old daughter of Samantha and Darrin Stephens and is aimed at children aged 6 to 11 years old. The premise is described as “Hannah Montana meets Harry Potter”. The show will follow Tabitha as she balances being a witch and a normal teenager.

The main difference between the animated series and the original live-action series is that while the new series will be reimagined through a 13-year-old girl learning about her powers, the original series centered on the marriage between her parents, a witch and her human husband. Most episodes saw her husband Darrin falling victim to one magic spell or another, usually cast by one of Samantha’s disapproving witch and warlock relatives.

What is the premise of The Partridge Family animated series

The Partridge Family animated series will follow a black family from Brooklyn as they travel throughout New York’s five boroughs to “serve up treats and tunes”. It is similar to the premise of the original show, but no further details about the animated series have been released yet. The original live-action show, which aired from 1970 to 1974, followed the musical adventures of a widowed mother and her five children who formed a band and toured the country in a brightly painted bus.

This is not the first animated series based on The Partridge Family however. The Partridge Family 2200 A.D. was created by Hanna-Barbera in the 1970s. The series lasted half a season on CBS Saturday morning (September 7, 1974 – March 8, 1975) In 1977–78, it was retitled The Partridges Family in Outer Space when episodes were serialized on the syndicated weekday series Fred Flintstone and Friends.
